Future Masters

The beauty of Masters football is that the stars just keep on coming! When EPL players retire, there are many who choose to join the competitive world of Masters, and the teams are getting younger all the time. Players like Gianfranco Zola and Lee Sharpe are lighting up the competition, so let's take a look at some of the players that we might be likely to see taking part in Masters in the near future.

  Alan Shearer
Alan Shearer is one of the most prolific English strikers of all time, with 30 goals for his country in only 63 games. He started his career at Southampton; scoring a hat-trick on his debut and within a few years had attracted the attention of wealthy Blackburn Rovers. At Rovers, Shearer won his only silverware, the Premier League title, whilst hitting an amazing 112 goals in 138 games. He then turned down Manchester United to join his boyhood team Newcastle United and has been seen as a legend for the Geordies ever since, finishing his career as their leading scorer with over 200 goals for the Magpies.

  Robbie Fowler
Robbie Fowler will always be remembered as one of the greatest Liverpool goalscorers, bursting onto the scene in 1993 with 18 goals in his debut season. In just over eight seasons at the reds he hit 171 goals, putting him fifth in the all-time goalscoring charts. Fowler then went on to register significant contributions at Leeds United and Manchester City, before finally returning to Anfield, his spiritual home. He also represented England on 27 occasions scoring seven goals.

  Ryan Giggs
The flying Welsh winger is a one-club man, having represented Manchester United throughout his whole career. Over 500 appearances for his boyhood team have brought him a multitude of honours and silverware - 9 Premier League Titles, 4 FA Cups, 2 League Cups and a Champions League triumph. He is now also close to breaking Bobby Charlton's all time appearance record for the Red Devils, having featured in 720 games over 17 seasons, scoring 80 goals.

  Peter Schmeichel
Peter Schmeichel is quite simply one of the best goalkeepers of all time. He represented his country, Denmark, 129 times - winning the 1992 European Championships. At club level it was for Manchester United that he spent his best years. 296 appearances over eight seasons brought five Premier League titles, three FA Cups and the Champions League, but it is his clean sheet record that is most impressive - he shut out the opposition in 42% of all Premier League games that he played.
